Neighbourhood Management – Heath Roadshow
Janet Goult, Practice Manager, Chair, Health Sub Group commented “Each year the Health Sub-Group of the Neighbourhood Management Board hold an event which reflects the needs and interests of the local communities of Mablethorpe, Sutton-on-Sea, Trusthorpe and other surrounding villages. The topics we choose are those with a lower profile on most health agendas, and in previous years we have had great success with our Carers Fun Day and the Alzheimer’s Awareness Day.
This year we moved away from one particular topic and put together a Health Roadshow where exhibitors could display their services and offer advice covering both health and social issues. The Marisco Medical Practice building on Stanley Avenue lends itself to such an event offering enough space for exhibitors plus demonstrations on healthy eating by the Food for Life team, and Nordic Walking and Gym exercise by the health trainers who work daily in the practice.
Other exhibitors included Weight Watchers, Phoenix Stop Smoking, Age UK, Vitality, Oasis Dental, Home Start, First Contact, Lincolnshire Chiropractor plus many more.
Dr. Steven Carter, retired Senior Partner from Marisco Medical Practice, opened the event at 10.00am and stayed on to chat with exhibitors. The event was extremely well attended and everyone was kept busy until 3.00p.m. Visitors left clutching bags full of information and free samples. Refreshments were provided by Friends of Marisco and members of the Neighbourhood Management Board Committee.
Everyone felt that this had been a very worthwhile event, with many follow-up contacts being made from the advice given to residents on the day.”
