Police have issued advice to be vigilant after a 91 year-old woman in Mablethorpe became a victim of jewellery theft.
At approx 11am on Tuesday 18 February, a man called at the lady’s address in the Seaholme Road area of the town, asking to buy any unwanted jewellery. She allowed the man into the house and showed him some items of jewellery before agreeing a sale on a number of pieces. She later discovered that other items were missing.
Police are treating the incident as a distraction burglary and are reminding residents to be very careful about allowing strangers into their homes. A resident in Sutton-On-Sea contacted police on Tuesday 25 February to report a suspicious man who was visiting houses asking to buy jewellery. Always be cautious about anyone who cold-calls at your door, offering goods or services.
