Members of the public who are interested in becoming flood wardens on the Lincolnshire coast can find out more about the role at a drop-in information day on Friday 31 January.

Existing flood wardens will be on hand to share their experiences with residents who may be interested in becoming a flood warden for their community. The event, which has been organised by Lincolnshire County Council and the Environment Agency, takes place at the Meridale Centre in Sutton on Sea between 10am and 4pm. Light refreshments will be available.

Laura Edlington, emergency planning officer at Lincolnshire County Council, says:

“We are working with local flood wardens to help them identify flood risks in their communities and understand what they need to consider in an emergency.

“We are committed to helping people become more prepared and resilient against flooding and hope people will drop in on Friday to find out more.

“Being a flood warden is all about helping residents in your community whose homes are in a flood risk area. It is incredibly reassuring for residents to know they have someone nearby who they can talk to about protecting their lives and property.”

Flood wardens in Lincolnshire are recruited by Lincolnshire County Council Emergency Planning Unit in partnership with the Environment Agency. For more information and an application pack, email .
