Labour Group Challenge ELDC To Do More

” Not enough to gain our support” was Labour Group Leader Tony Howard’s response when questioned about why his group on ELDC did not support the ruling group’s budget proposals.
“During the round of talks leading up to tonight’s meeting we put forward 3 radical ideas to help local people & businesses. The portfolio holder for finance has promised to look into these further but was unable to include them in his speech. That is why our only alternative was to abstain in the vote” he continued.
“If adopted our ideas would provide free parking to attract shoppers, loans to small businesses and better houses for local people. All of which would give a lift to our area at a time when national government is withdrawing funding and cutting services which helps no-one in our area.”
“Only our 11 Labour councillors locally stand up for ordinary working people in East Lindsey. Whether they are employees, small business owners, retired after a life of work or those desperately looking for employment we want our residents to have the best they can from this council and we will be pursuing them over the next 12 months to implement our plans as they have promised”
